A Sartorial Paradise

posted by in Style

Summer is here! I can tell not just by the bright blue skies and toasty breezes but by the incessant hot flashes creeping up on little ole pregnant me. While I dream of another era when seaside escape for the entire summer was the norm, us modern day working people still need to be in the confines of the urban jungle with only pockets of weekend breaks to keep us going. This gorgeous warm weather however is not conducive to black and grey work wear because all I want to do is live in cut-offs, muumuus, caftans and bejeweled sandals. How does one get away with a fresh island vibe while keeping polished, professional and not falling into the castaway category?

Taking inspiration from the lush flora and fauna and treelined white-sand beaches of Palawan, Rajo Laurel takes the meaning of resort wear to a whole new level. It’s not just about clothes one wears at a resort but it’s all about actually wearing the resort. Brilliantly mixing structured and sculptural stiffness in very organic natural and neutral materials, with a a luxurious soft whimsy in bold palm prints and light airy fabrics, he creates for us a perfect world of tropical urban fashion. A perfect example is the use of intricate and beautiful embroidered exotic birds on starched, crisp shirts. Paired with a khaki skirt or chinos for the gentlemen, you can actually proudly wear your exotic wanderlusting daydreams to the boardroom. Here are some of our favorite looks from the collection which is available at House of Laurel on the R2 Level, Powerplant Mall, Rockwell Center and his showroom House of Laurel 6013 Villena corner Manalac Street, Poblacion, Makati. May all your summer dreams come true!

Love and Light,

Stephanie

We are two friends who were former magazine editors. Having moved onto other things, we both realized that the creative flow the publishing world used to offer us was missing from our lives. Armed with a common love of travel to the exotic and familiar, a penchant for the bohemian, an obsession with food and a lust for writing, we decided to collaborate our unique and fashionable journeys through life together in one passion project.
