Time Out? Yes please!
posted by Stephanie in Indulgences

I’m not a holiday, greeting card kinda gal. My husband knows not to spend a small fortune on flowers for Valentine’s Day or even on Christmas and my birthday I really don’t expect gifts. I’m happy with the fact that we get to spend good quality time together more often than most couples do and we manage to satisfy our travel bugs. This time however I had left some very OBVIOUS hints that this particular Mother’s Day is important to me because it is my very first! It’s been such an amazing adventure thus far and I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by some really supportive and inspiring women who have made this journey into motherhood a breeze! This photo below was taken almost a year ago by the talented Stan Ong. I don’t think there are words that can truly describe how full my heart was on those first few days and just when you think you can’t love someone more you just do. I can’t believe my son is about to celebrate his first birthday as well so another kudos to us parents for keeping him happy and healthy for 365 days with many, many more to come.
Being a mom is one of the most fulfilling roles I have ever undertaken, I honestly can’t imagine my life without my baby. I do however have to admit that having that as well as being a wife and having a new career in broadcasting and media (that strangely enough has only blossomed of late! My baby is my good luck charm!) I’ve realized the importance of ME time. I look forward to my mini escapes to the parlor for a mani-pedi or lunch with the girls or even shooing my hubby out of the house to go on a boy’s night out so I can watch Grey’s Anatomy and get a massage.
So whether you’re a full time mom or juggling it all… we all deserve a break and some bubbly! To recharge and celebrate! My baby is thankfully not naughty enough yet to be put on a time out but I’ll gladly put myself in one. As much as I would love to disappear to Bali for a few days on a yoga retreat or hike up Machu Pichu, I think this little staycation idea of The Peninsula Manila is a great alternative. Workout, spa, sweets and cocktails, delicious breakfast and lounging by the pool… Sounds good to me!
Love and light, Stephanie
P.S. – I would most probably take my husband AND my baby with me anyways! He’s just too cute and yummy at this age, I would miss him way too much!

We are two friends who were former magazine editors. Having moved onto other things, we both realized that the creative flow the publishing world used to offer us was missing from our lives. Armed with a common love of travel to the exotic and familiar, a penchant for the bohemian, an obsession with food and a lust for writing, we decided to collaborate our unique and fashionable journeys through life together in one passion project.
We are The Gypsetters.
