Ten Snapshots of Thailand by Cristina Cu

posted by in The Ten

After seeing all the beautiful travel posts of our good friends over the last holiday, the Gypetters have decided to compile a new series of Easter Break Getaways.  Today we are featuring super nice, with tresses to die for and a body to match, Unilever’s Cristina Cu who went to Bangkok and Koh Chang in Thailand with her family.

“Bangkok has so much to offer I really can’t wait to be back. Everything is super reasonable and there’s so much to choose from. The hotel where I stayed, Okura Prestige, was great place to experience it all,” says Cristina. “Koh Chang is nice and slightly off-the-beaten-path but still well-known to locals. It has so many adventures activities – from elephant parks to ziplining and even ATVs or hikes to nearby waterfalls. It’s not as developed as the likes of Koh Samui but still has a to offer. The chill resort had a great modern vibe and beachside location. Everything on the island is very reasonable including massages and food. It’s a good place for those looking for a bit of a rest and relaxation.”

Three favorite things about the trip.

1. Food. You really can’t go wrong with the food in Thailand because there are so many great places. My favorite was Issaya Siamese Club because its food offered the same traditional flavors yet through modern techniques.

2. Adventure. Fun once in lifetime opportunities like riding, swimming and feeding elephants or a full tree top zipline adventure course! Different way to experience the place and get the adrenaline going.

3. Sunsets and serenity. There is nothing like a serene beach and a beautiful sunset. It’s the perfect R&R you need from crazy city life.

Whilst riding elephants look cool and instagram-worthy, one should not do so. It hurts them and there is a dark side to it. Instead, one should volunteer at an elephant sanctuary. For more information please see http://expertvagabond.com/elephants-in-thailand/

You can ‘travel in style’ without hurting animals in the process.

We are two friends who were former magazine editors. Having moved onto other things, we both realized that the creative flow the publishing world used to offer us was missing from our lives. Armed with a common love of travel to the exotic and familiar, a penchant for the bohemian, an obsession with food and a lust for writing, we decided to collaborate our unique and fashionable journeys through life together in one passion project.
