The Long and Short of It

posted by in Style

Summer is here and if there is one thing I personally can not stand is sloppy men’s beachwear. I firmly believe that unless you are a surfer or have the body and build of one, men should avoid wearing knee length or even worst! below the knee board shorts. The make you look short, squat and frumpy and are just really not attractive at all. Trust me gentlemen! We ladies do check you out while strolling the sand and unlike what you may think, that menswear just come in small, medium and large… just like us, you guys have to think about the importance of cut and fit.

VB moorea shorts

I personally am a die-hard fan of Vilebrequin’s classic Moorea short, designed in the ’70’s and universally flattering. Sitting right at the hip, not too low please unless you have that covetable V-shaped abdomen and a serious case of washer board abs, and cut just a bit above the knee, this pair of swim shorts looks great on everyone and of all ages. I love the playful colors and prints! Far more appealing than the usual grotesque fire ball designs or neon swooshes on a black background that so often come with those baggy loose board shorts, and the best part is that paired with a loose linen shirt or cotton pique polo, you’re ready in a pinch to go straight from the sea to cocktails and happy hour.

Born in Saint-Tropez, Vilebrequin embodies the laid back yet effortlessly chic lifestyle of Mediterranean living. How can you not fall in love with these father and son ads? My baby boy still has 3 more months to go in my tummy but I’m already eyeing a matching set for him and my hubby! What’s even cuter? They just came out with a collaboration with Havaianas… Both for big and little boys!

Love and light,

Stephanie

We are two friends who were former magazine editors. Having moved onto other things, we both realized that the creative flow the publishing world used to offer us was missing from our lives. Armed with a common love of travel to the exotic and familiar, a penchant for the bohemian, an obsession with food and a lust for writing, we decided to collaborate our unique and fashionable journeys through life together in one passion project.
